May 25, 2020
Dear Camp Rainbow Friends,
As you know, the year 2020 has been a very difficult and trying time for our local communities, businesses, organizations and others. As with any year, we have been anxiously looking forward to another great session with you at Camp Rainbow.
During the past month the Camp Rainbow Board of Directors have met, gathered feedback from local health officials and discussed various options that would allow safety of our campers and volunteers. It was then decided that postponing our regular June session and planning an August camp would be a viable option.
I am sad to let you know that we have received official word from the Missouri State Parks that the group camp at Crowder will be closed for the summer. While we completely understand this situation, it unfortunately means we will not be able to hold Camp Rainbow this summer. We know how much camp means to so many and how much we all look forward to our time together. While we could have considered other group camps, we felt it was not in our best interest to conduct camp since so many others are closing for 2020 as well.
Discussions have already begun regarding some kind of event such as a Camp Rainbow prom / dance, or other social event later in the year. So please be on the look-out for more information to come. And certainly, Camp Rainbow will be back in 2021...awaiting you all with open arms!
On behalf of our volunteers and board members, I wish you a healthy and happy rest of 2020 and we look forward so much to seeing you in June 2021!
Camp Rainbow Board Chairman

Due to the large number of medications given at Camp Rainbow, We do have very specific requirements for medication packaging. We require that medications (pills/tablets/capsules) be packaged in approximately 2” x 4” envelopes with the camper’s name, date, and time to be given. We are asking that the camper’s pharmacy package the medications, but the caregiver can package them also.
Campers are involved in various activities throughout the day so medications are given at mealtimes and bedtime. Those times are 8:00am, 12:00 pm, 5:00 pm, and 8:30 pm. If the medications are not packaged when the camper arrives, we will have the packets available for the caregiver to package them for the camper with the date and time they are to be given. We will not accept any type of bubble pack or packaging not in envelopes as described above.
Please send only the medications the camper will need while at camp. We have ibuprofen, Aspirin and other over the counter medications available. We will give those to the camper when needed.
We appreciate your cooperation in this matter. If you have questions about how to package the mediations, please call Betty Snyder at 660-646-1026 after 5:00 pm, Mon-Fri.
The needs of the camper have been provided for, so, it will not be necessary for any individual to bring money to camp. No iPods, tablets, valuable jewelry, or other valuables, please.
